Separate meetings chaired by the Chief Minister O Ibobi held in his office bungalow today have discussed on the progress of the works of construction of the railway line from Jiribam to Imphal and schedule visit of the chief minister with some other ministers in three hill districts of the state tomorrow.
The chief minister will lay foundation stones of construction of poly-techniques at the three districts headquarters of Ukhrul, Senapati and Tamenglong district tomorrow.
Hectic arrangements with heavy deployment of security have been started prior to the visit of the Chief Minister.
The progress work of the railway line from Jiribam to Imphal was reviewed by the chief minister with the members of the committee formed under his chairmanship.
The committee, mention may be made, was formed in compliance with the instruction of the Prime Minister's Office to the state additional chief secretary (planning) on January 24 last to monitor the progress of the works taken up for extension of railway line from Jiribam to Imphal.
State chief minister, O Ibobi is the chairman of the committee and transport minister, L Jayentakumar, chief secretary Rakesh, additional chief secretary (planning), DS Poonia, DGP Y Joykumar, principal secretary (finance) AN Jha, commissioner (transport) H Imocha, secretary revenue (revenue) Sunderlal, principal chief conservator of forest, S Singjit, chief engineer (power) Sanaton, director (transport) Sitlou, DC (Tamenglong), RH Gonmei, SC (Senapati, Nidhi Kesharwam, chief engineer (NE Railway, Mohanlal are the members.
Joint director (planning) Muhindro is the member secretary of the committee.
The committee will meet at least once every month or more often if the necessary, the source said.
During the meeting today, the committee reviewed the progress of works which the chief minister along with its members had inspected last weekend.
The meeting reportedly discussed most importantly on the security deployment at the sites where the construction works are being taken up and disturbances that are likely to come during the construction works.
The meeting also discussed on the inauguration of the office of the railway authority constructed at MSTRC complex, Moirangkhom at the earliest.
It also discussed on the acquisition of lands, payment of compensation to the affected lands, the source said.
Another round of meeting under the chair of the chief minister was also held after the review meeting on railway line and discussed on the visit of the chief minister, O Ibobi in different places in Ukhrul, Senapati and Tamenglong districts.
Chief Minister, O Ibobi is visiting the three districts with some ministers and officials.
He along with his entourage will fly to the places by helicopter which had already requisite from the authority of the Indian Air Force.
As per the tentative scheduled, the MI-17 helicopter will take off from Kangla Helipad at around 10 am and drop at helipad at 17 AR post Samsei and proceed to Ukhrul district headquarters by road and lay the foundation stone of the government poly-technique.
He will fly again to Senapati district headquarter and Tamenglong lay foundation stones for the poly-techniques there.
