Ukhrul, February 09 2009:
Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of AMTUC and AMGEO, Ukhrul branch expressed strong resentment over the erratic power supply of Ukhrul district.
Talking to this correspondent, JAC president Joyson Shaiza and general secretary Samson Kasar said that the power being supplied from 33KV Nungshangkong power sub-station of Ukhrul district have miserably failed to serve the need of the people since last three to four months and added that as of now there is no power supply in Ukhrul Headquarters.
Maintaining that anyone who wants to witness against this bitter truth may confirm from the 132 KV sub-station at Yangangpokpi and 33 KV sub-station at Nungshangkong where log books of power supply are maintained.
The two executives further said that as a result of irregular power supply, all electricity related works and information system in the Government/NGOs offices and private individuals are completely paralysed, and added that nights are confined in total dark for the last many months.
They further stated that thousands of district college and school going students who are to be regarded as future pillars are facing grim prospect of good results in the ensuing HSLC/HSSLC exams, which are to be commenced from this month.
Terming it unfortunate that not even a single organization /NGOs of Ukhrul base are there to complain for such attitude of non-supply of electric power in Ukhrul district, the JAC complained to the Government authorities to restore regular power supply in Ukhrul district immediately in the larger interest of the students who are going to appear HSLC/HSSLC exams.
JAC also urged to exempt from submission of no due certificate of electric bill to all the Government employed consumers and others of the district from the period from October 2008 to January 2009 as power was not supplied regularly during this period.
