A lodging centre which would mean for working women who could not return home after day's work will be opened soon, said state health and family welfare and labour minister, Ph Parijat said speaking on the occasion of the observation of the May Day at GM hall yesterday.
State government has completed arrangement for locating the centre at a place opposite to the Khuman Lampak Bus Terminus and will be handed over to the people soon, Parijat further said at the function organized by the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) .
The centre will provide facilities to the working women at time when they could not back home after day work due to late or other factors, he said.
The function was attended by CPI state secretary L Iboyaima, former MP and JD (S) president W Kullabidhu, AITUC president, Dr M Nara, its secretary L Sotinkumar, CPI(M) state secretary Sharat Salam, secretary of the Forward Block, Gyneshwor and RSP state secretary Manoranjan.
Further speaking on the occasion, the labour minister expressed that in the state in an unbelievable condition, the number of bonded labours are increasing.
Centre has sanctioned a fund amounting to Rs 20 lakh for the rehabilitation of the labours with meager wages.
The fund will be distributed to the labours at the earliest, he added.
In the state the number of labour is on the raise and they are facing non-availability of works.
As they engaged in day to day available works, they are spending with awful living condition.
Negligible numbers of farm is another factor for having no place for non-availability of work place, he observed.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr M Nara expressed concerned over the increasing gap between the rich and poor people of the society.
Rich men become richer day by day and poor become poorer day by day, he observed.
Biggest body of the globe, Trade Union in its annual conference held on February 12 and 13 this year has resolved to control the non-payment of wages of the labourers.
The meet also took a decision to a make a new economic policy of the globe, he added.
The observance of the day remembering an event occurred on May 1 in 1886 at Chicago which labour class people rose up to show solidarity is with an objective of creating a new history.
It has been a must to build up a new Manipur or India with the notion of living together and march ahead together, he said.
The function was attended by hundreds of people from all works of life.
Speakers in the function called for building up a united struggle for the working class people.
