Imphal, March 18 2022:
The newly floated Kuki People's Alliance (KPA) has extended unconditional support to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the formation of a new Government in the state.
KPA president Tongmang Haokip along with two newly elected MLAs - Kimneo Haokip Hangshing (Saikul) and Chinlunthang (Singhat) submitted their letter of support to the Governor La Ganesan at Raj Bhavan here on Friday.
Briefly interacting with the Governor, Tongmang Haokip said that KPA won both 46-Saikul and 60-Singhat Assembly seats in the recently concluded Assembly elections.
He said, due to limited time in the formation of his Party, only two candidates were fielded and both of them won in the election.
Earlier, Janata Dal (United), Naga People's Front (NPF) and independent MLA Sapam Nishikant Singh extended unconditional support to BJP in the formation of new government in the state.
It may be recalled that BJP received a thumping majority by winning 32 seats in the 60-member Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
The KPA was floated by two retired bureaucrats, a practicing doctor and a lawyer to represent the interests of the Kuki tribe in Manipur.
