CPI national meet reviews poll reports

Imphal, March 18 2022:
The National Council of Communist Party of India (CPI) held a meeting in New Delhi from March 12 to 14, wherein the party discussed the reasons behind its defeat in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, despite the formation of Manipur Progressive Secular Alliance with like-minded political parties.
CPI Manipur State Council secretary L Sotinkumar and national executive member Dr M Nara attended the meeting from the side of state unit.
The meeting discussed a report on the defeat of the party in the election despite forming an alliance among CPI, CPI (M), RSP, Forward Bloc, JD (S) and Indian National Congress, named Manipur Progressive Secular Alliance.
The report contended that rival candidates distributed money ranging from Rs 5000 to Rs 20,000 to woo voters.
The election also witnessed high rate of pre-poll violence.
Amidst such a situation, Manipur Progressive Secular Alliance needed to make early preparations.
The meeting further observed that the new BJP-led government would face a leadership crisis and there is high probability of instability.
