Imphal, March 14 2021:
The price of household cooking gas or LPG (liquified petroleum gas) refill has been increased three times since January.
In January this year, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder refill of 14.2 kg was Rs 871, which further increased to Rs 921 and then to Rs 946 .
In March again, the price was further hiked and a refill now costs Rs 971 .
An LPG refill which cost Rs 410.50 on March 1, 2014 has risen to Rs 819 this month in Delhi, according to Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's recent written reply in the Lok Sabha, reported Times of India.

Even though the price varies for States, this gives a fair idea of the rising price trend for cooking gas.
Even though the Government is also increasing the amount of subsidy on the LPG, the overall price is becoming a burden to the people and a major social and poll issue.
Some of the officials of IOCL (Indian Oil Corporation Limited) in Imphal have also stated that there are many complaints from customers regarding the subsidy.
Many customers have filed complaints that they did not get the subsidy amount on their LPG refill.
The subsidy on the LPG refill is credited to a customer's bank account.
Many of the customers who have two Aadhaar linked accounts in different banks have also filed complaints they have not got the subsidy amount, they said.
Further, some of the distributors are charging home delivery charges more than the amount fixed by the district administration, they claimed.
While some are charging Rs 50 or Rs 80 depending on the distance of the point of delivery, there are some which are charging as many as Rs 100 to Rs 150 per one domestic refill.
If a distributor charges Rs 100 per cylinder as home delivery charge, it earns Rs 30,800 per truckload of refill.
Some of the distributors have suspended home delivery service and they are selling LPG refills by way of open booking and cash and carry, they said, adding that the Department of Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution had made home delivery compulsory amid the COVID-19 pandemic as a preventive and precautionary measure.
When the distributors should continue home delivery service as COVID-19 situation is not over yet, many of the customers prefer cash and carry over home delivery.
In the face of unregulated home delivery charges, coupled with issues of subsidy and others, many of the customers do not want their refills to be delivered at home.
They prefer to get their refill in person at the distribution centres, the officials said.
