Three held with drugs worth about Rs 1 crore

Imphal, March 14 2021:
Imphal East police apprehended three members of a gang with 891.35 gram of suspected heroin worth Rs 1 crore (approx) in international market and other materials from Kairang Chingya, this morning.
The police identified the arrested individuals as Md Sahid Khan (45,), S/o Md Nurddin; Md Imtiaz (41), S/o Md Leihaoruddin and Md Manir (30), S/o Md Gaffar.
All three of them are residents of Kairang Khunou.
Briefing journalists at its Porompat office, Imphal East SP, Jogeshchandra Haobijam said that the district police nabbed the three while conducting a house to house search operation at Kairang Chingya at around 5.30 am.
From them the police also seized Rs 35,620 in cash; 29 disposable syringes; 719 empty plastic veils; one laptop; one room heater; one car (Maruti Swift); three two wheelers; one double barrel gun, 26 mobile phones etc.
The plastic veils might be for packaging the powder and the phones for contacting the customers, he said and added that a case has been registered at Heingang police station.
The operation was carried out under the command of Additional SP (Ops) Roni Mayengbam and SDPO Lamlai, Ksh Ravikumar, he informed.
