Awareness campaign on 'Har Ghar Jal, Handwashing and Jal Jeevan Mission' held

As a part of the ongoing celebration to mark the 4 years of citizen centric governance, the Bishnupur PHE Division, PHED Manipur organised mass awareness programme on "Har Ghar Jal, Hand washing and ODF" at Toubul and Leimapokpam today.
During the programme, awareness was given to the people of the two villages about Jal Jeevan Mission, the importance of Water conservation, sustainability of Open Defecation Free in Bishnupur and the behavioural changes required to attain ODF.
A demonstration on how to test the quality of water by Field testing kit was also shown to the women members of the VWSC.
Later, a water pledge was also taken to conserve water by all the participants.

CHANDEL
Awareness programme on 'Har Ghar Jal, Handwashing and ODF' was also organised by PHED Chandel Division at Komlathabi village community hall today.
Addressing the programme, Executive Engineer, Seigoulen Lhungdim highlighted the achievements of PHED in the district and the role played by the Village Water and Sanitation Committee (VWSC) in the village action plan, provision of Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) & community contribution of 5% and the sustainable operation and maintenance of the schemes.
During the function, Grey water management, Plastic waste management and IHHL were also discussed.
Two villages, L Bongjoi and Komlathabi were feted for successfully completing the FHTC and community contribution of 5% of their project cost through labour by laying pipes, and also for Komlathabi becoming the first ODF village of the district.
The event concluded with the inspection of the FHTC of Komlathabi installed in the village by the Deputy Commissioner Chandel, Mayanglambam Rajkumar, EE PHED and other DLOs.
CHURACHANDPUR
The Churachandpur District Administration also organised an awareness campaign on 'Har Ghar Jal and Water Conservation at DTC Hall, DC Office, Churachandpur as a part of the ongoing celebration.
During the programme, Thangboi Gangte, MCS, ADC Churachandpur administered the Water Pledge of Har Ghar Jal.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Letkhogin Haokip, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (TA & Hills) Government of Manipur said that Manipur is a much better place than other Indian States in many fronts including availability of water.
Pawan Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner while highlighting the achievements of the PHED in the district said Churachandpur District was declared ODF on August 11, 2018.The PHED Department has taken steps to have the ODF sign in each and every village.
He said that a drive was also conducted against single use plastic with success.
SDOs, DLOs and Officials from the Police Department also attended the programme.
Similar programmes were also held at the block level.
KAKCHING
"Jal Jeevan Mission' was also observed at Keirak Yawabung Community Hall by PHED Kakching Division under the District Administration Kakching.
As a part of the programme, a mass rally was also flagged off by Keirak Gram Panchayat Pradhan, E Santi Leima.
Placards including 'Water is the hope of life.
Try to save it' , Use water when required, this is your contribution in water conservation', etc were raised during the rally.
It was attended by PHED Kakching Division EE, Rk Surendro; AE, Kangagbam Roshan; ASOs; District Water & Sanitation Committee members, ASHA and Anganwadi workers.
Later, a poster campaign on the theme "Don't be drastic, say No to plastic" organised by the PHED Manipur was also launched.
PHERZAWL
As part of the ongoing celebration, a discussion on Functional Household Tape Connection and awareness drive on Handwashing and ODF was taken up at Pherzawl Community Hall today.
During the programme, water pledge was taken by all the participants, demonstrations on 'Handwashing' and short videos on the subject were also presented.
Later, a rally on water conservation, handwashing and use of toilets was held from Pherzawl Community Hall to Pherzawl Bazar.
A cleanliness drive was also conducted under ICDS, Parbung.
SENAPATI
In continuation of 4 years celebration of the Government of Manipur, the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati flagged off the tableaux of Har Ghar Jal, Handwashing and Jal Jeevan Mission today from Senapati Traffic Point.
Addressing the gathering, the DC said that it is an awareness programme on water conservation and hand-washing.
With the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission, every household would get the tap water connection by 2021.Besides, a parallel programme on handwashing and Jal Jeevan Mission was held in all the Subdivision Block and Health Centres across the district.
The programme was attended by DLOs, PHED staff and the public.
TENGNOUPAL
The District Water and Sanitation Committee, Tengnoupal also organised a mass awareness programme on "Har Ghar Jal" at Saivom and Langol in Tengnoupal district, today.
During the programme, PHE Tengnoupal Division, EE, K Biswajit enlightened the gathering on 'Jal Jeevan Mission, Hand washing and ODF", and PHED Laboratory Expert, Khumanthem Dhiren on 'how to test the quality of water using Field testing kit' .
THOUBAL
Similar awareness programme was also organised by PHE Division Thoubal at its office complex today.
The awareness programme was attended by BDO Lilong, Ziaur Rahaman; PHE Division Thoubal, Executive Engineer, N Livingstone Singh and Assistant Engineer, Th Sarat Singh as presidium members.
Later, a mass rally was also conducted to spread awareness on water conservation.
