Kohima, July 28 (PTI):
The NSCN (IM) tonight said the Centres decision to restrict the ceasefire to Nagaland only was not acceptable to the Nagas.
In a statement faxed to PTI from Amsterdam, NSCN (IM) general secretary Th Muivah and president Isak Swu Chishi said in the talks with Centres interlocutor for the Naga accord K Padmanabhaiah on July 23 and 24, nothing has been finalized on the proposal raised for reviewing the June 14 Bangkok agreement.
Stating that in view of the adverse situation created it was constrained to issue the statement from Amsterdam, to make things categorically clear, they said it was understood together that implementation of the ceasefire, especially the necessity of keeping the rampant activities of all the Indian armed forces under effective control was first and foremost before any decision is arrived at.
This is the truth and the whole truth of the talks.
Of course both sides believed that better understanding could certainly be arrived at in the course of talks.
And so there is practically no point on the part of India government to make announcement beyond this understanding.
Therefore any announcement or declaration or statement given from the home ministry or in any mass media are unfounded.
And so they are in no sense acceptable to the Nagas, the statement added.
Meanwhile most political parties today refused comment on the Centres decision to restrict the ceasefire to Nagaland alone, though one labeled it as a grave injustice to Nagas, as shops downed shutters at the commercial town of Dimapur.
