The Centre has convened a meeting of all the Chief Ministers of North-Eastern States on September four in Shillong to review internal security and other aspects of the situation in the region.
The meeting in the context of violence in Manipur and Assam will take place during Home Minister Shivraj Patil�s visit to the region, sources said here today.
It will be attended by Chief Ministers of Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim and would focus on among other issues the recent incidents of violence and measures to tackle it.
"Besides deliberating upon the issue on internal security in the region, the meeting is also expected to discuss developmental issues," they said.
It is Patil�s maiden visit to North-East after the change of guard at the Centre.
During his three-day visit, the Minister will also meet senior police officials, Director General of Assam Rifles and local Commanders of CRPF and BSF to assess the security situation in the region, they said.
