Thaisii sees red while inspecting sports complex at Senapati

Sports complex being constructed at Karong in Senapati district and the condition of Senapati District hospital were inspected today by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister DD Thaisii and Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar.
Enraged over lack of work progress and total disregard to qualitative aspect of the sport complex construction work which is being undertaken by MDS at the estimated cost of Rs 15 crores from SPA, DD Thaisii stated that he would take up the matter with the Chief Minister for further necessary actions against all relevant officials/individuals.
Nevertheless, the YAS Minister was gratified on observing that district hospital construction work had been completed by almost 80 per cent.
Speaking to media persons after inspecting both the sports complex and the district hospital, DD Thaisii stated though the sports complex construction work was initiated since 2007-08, there was little work progress besides total absence of quality control in major portions of the complex excepting a few components.
Stating that the amount of Rs 15 crores sanctioned for construction of the sports complex has not been fully utilised, DD Thaisii informed that he would consult with the Chief Minister so as to construct the sports complex anew after preparing a revised DPR.
Fitting actions would be initiated against all those responsible for lapses and flaws in the designing and construction of the sports complex.
He further stated that the local people would be asked to monitor the construction work regularly when the sports complex is constructed anew in order to ensure that due emphasis is paid on quality control.
Retaining wall constructed by IFCD around the sports complex on the side of Barak river had been wrecked by flood twice.
As such, necessary process would be initiated soon to re-build the retaining wall so that it can withstand the pressure of flood water, DD Thaisii stated.
He iterated that district sports complexes being constructed at Thoubal and Chandel have been completed by around 80 per cent and 90 per cent respectively.
Necessary order for initiating construction work of Ukhrul sports complex has also been issued whereas work orders for district sports complexes of Bishnupur, Tamenglong and Churachandpur are being processed, the YAS Minister stated.
After assessing the site where a monday market was constructed at Senapati town before it was abandoned midway, Thaisii stated that the existing structures would be demolished to build the market anew for which an amount of Rs three crores has been set aside from the head of NLCPR.
Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar stated that the Senapati district hospital which would have 50 beds was being constructed under a policy of the State Government to set up a district hospital at every district headquarters.
When Senapati District Hospital has been completed by 80 per cent, Thoubal District hospital has been fully completed.
Maximum efforts are being put in to inaugurate the two hospitals before election code of conduct comes into force with a view to showcase them as achievements of the SPF Govt.Talking about shortage of manpower and equipment at the hospital, Jayantakumar claimed that due process has been initiated to recruit doctors and para medical staff in order to make up the shortfalls.
As for equipment, a committee has been set up with the Chief Secretary as chairman to procure all the necessary equipment from manufacturing companies directly.
Informing that other district hospitals are also nearing completion, Jayantakumar assured that he work for construction of approach roads and also to provide water and electricity facilities, above the original DPRs of the district hospitals.
He further conveyed that the Nursing Council of India has given consent to upgrade the State Nursing School located at Lamphelpat to a Nursing College.
