Imphal, March 19 2012:
Students and staff of Diligent Public School, Moirang have strongly protested against derecognising the school on alleged false charges by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) without any prior notice.
With the academic career of around 1200 students of the school at stake, the students and staff today staged a sit-in-protest against the Board's termination order issued by its secretary L Rajmohon and published as an advertisement in a local daily on March 17 .
According to the school authority, the school was established in 2004 and acquired recognition from BOSEM in 2009 .
Since then, the students of the school have been appearing in the Matriculation examination conducted by BOSEM, they added.
Clarifying that the land of the school complex is not hired on lease from anybody, they said that the claim made before the High Court and BOSEM by some vested interest individuals that the school is being run on a leased land is baseless and unfounded.

Claiming that the school had already submitted the land patta of its complex to BOSEM on July 30, 2011, they questioned why the Board did not authenticate the document at the time of its submission.
Saying that the land was bought by the founder of the school, Phairembam Nobin from late Hemam Ningol Moirangthem Ongbi Tombi Devi, the school authority made it clear that the land was not bought from Tombi's son-in-law Bocha.
The school authority also strongly condemned the secretary of the BOSEM for issuing the de-recognition order without considering the facts and giving any prior information to the school.
Saying that the school is providing free education to many underprivileged and orphan children, the school authority urged the Board not to take any hasty decision which may harm the academic career of the innocent students.
Mairembam Ongbi Ibeyaima of Moirang Bazar, whose name has been mentioned in the Board's order, clarified that she did not have any financial qualm with the founder of the school.
She also urged the Board not to mention her name without her permission in future.
