Imphal, March 19 2012:
Students and teachers of Diligent Public School, Moirang Lamkhai today staged a sit-in protest decrying the cancellation of recognition of the school by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) without any proper reason.
According to a teacher who participated in the protest, the school has around 1200 students from Pre-Nursery to Class 10 .
The school was established in 2004 and has a land area of .63 acre.
Land owner certificate for the school too had been submitted to the Board in July last year.
The land was bought from one Hemam Ningol Moirangthem ongbi Tombi in 2004 by Chairman of the Managing Committee of the school Mairenbam Nobin and the school was shifted to its present site the following year.
However, all of the sudden, the Board has cancelled its recognition without any prior information, the teacher lamented.
Demanding revocation of the cancellation order at the earliest, students and guardians of the students have also announced their decision of taking recourse to intense agitation against BSEM if it fails to meet the demand.
