Imphal, September 10:
Undeterred by the ruling of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal yesterday ordering the release of hunger striker Irom Sharmila Chanu from custody, the 32 old has resumed her agitation.
Following her refusal to oblige with the Court ruling State police re-detained her after the same Court further remanded her to judicial custody.
The re-arrest was made yesterday evening at around 6.45 as Sharmila declined to accept the release order and continued her fast at the security ward of JN Hospital.
A fresh FIR has also been registered against her under Section 309 IPC.
Sharmila was also produced before the CJM today where she expressed unwillingness to accept freedom on bail after which the Court remanded her to judicial custody till September 24.Case dossiers mentioned of Sharmila�s family members reluctance to receive her when they were informed of yesterday�s CJM Court ruling.
She had also refused nose feeding.
During interrogation, Sharmila admitted to the charges levelled against her while reaffirming to continue her agitation until the AFSPA is completely withdrawn from Manipur.
Mention may be made that the CJM ordered the release of the hunger striker on the ground that the one year detention term for her offence (attempt to commit suicide) was equated during her judicial custody period.
