DDK Imphal is in the final stage of launching a free to air Direct to Home Service (DTH) in the State, disclosed a senior official of the DDK Imphal.
Speaking at a press conference, the DDK official said that aim of this new project is to provide free to air DTH service with 17 channels of DD and 13 channels of Private Broadcasters to make a bouquet of 30 TV channels and 20 Radio Channels on the DTH Platform with the aim of providing multi channel service not only to the uncovered areas.
He further informed that the signal will be available at each home directly without the use of any cable etc enabling a person to receive the programmes with the help of a small receive-segment.
Informing that lack of technical know-how and delay in installing earth station and KU-band Transponders in the State were some of the major causes responsible for the delay in launching the DTH service, the official said that this new system is much cheaper and economical option as compared to the coverage through terrestrial transmitters.
Asst Station Engineer of DDK Imphal who was also present during the press conference demonstrated the functioning of the new system to the mediapersons during the press briefing.
The engineer also informed that the system function with the help of a European Satellite NSS-6.
