Loumi Lup to organise mass rally on Jan 28

Taking up the demand adequate provisions for irrigational facilities in the cultivable tracts and adequate safe drinking water in rural, urban and hilly areas, Manipur Loumi Lup would be organising a mass rally in the state on January 28 .
This was informed by former Minister N Mangi during a press meet at Irabot Bhavan here today.
Mangi, who is also in charge of Manipur Loumi Lup, said that the so called Loktak Lift Irrigation Project, Khoupum Dam Project, Sekmai Barrage Project, Imphal Barrage Project, Singda Multipurpose Project and Khuga Multipurpose Project which aimed at providing facilities for irrigation, safe drinking water and electricity have failed to translate the promises made to the people.
Government should upgrade these projects so as to translate the promises made to the people in to action, he demanded and added that the government should complete the construction of canals of Khuga Multipurpose Project and start power generation at the earliest.
He further pointed out that the government should upgrade such projects so that farmers can get maximum benefits from them and bring green revolution in the state.
Mangi appealed to the people of the state to participate in the proposed mass rally.
After the rally, memorandum highlighting the demands of Manipur Loumi Lup would also be submitted to the Chief Minister and IFCD Minister, he informed, while disclosing that Manipur Loumi Lup is also planning to organize another rally to press the demand for payment of monthly pension of Rs 3000 and other PDS benefits to the farmers towards the end of February.
