Churachandpur, May 18 2021:
State DGP LM Khaute on Tuesday held a meeting with CSO leaders at YPA Hall here to find a way for effective implementation of COVID guidelines.
The meeting was convened taking into consideration of the need for CSOs' involvement in enforcing SOPs amid the rising COVID-19 cases.
During the meeting, the DGP said that the state government had declared several districts including Churachandpur as containment areas and curfew is being strictly enforced in those containment areas.
The police are putting in maximum effort to ensure compliance with the SOPs by the public.
Civil society organisations in various parts of the state are cooperating with the state machineries, mainly the police, for effective implementation of the SOPs, he added.
"We have over 10 civil society organisations which are tribe based and the situation here is very unique, which calls for involvement of each tribe to make them aware of the pandemic and the need to resort to strict implementation of the guidelines so as to contain the pandemic as early as possible," LM Khaute said.
All the invited civil society organisations and leaders turned up for the meeting and shared their suggestions.
There were overwhelming suggestions that the district administration, particularly the police, should act in close coordination with the CSOs and for which a joint mechanism is essential.
DGP Khaute said that a joint mechanism will be set up taking into consideration of COVID protocols and guidelines, adding that the CSOs' suggestions which are in harmony with the overall guidelines already issued by the state government will be carried forward.
LM Khaute also said that the authorities are looking for more proactive measures to be taken up in support of the enforcement measures already put in place with support from the CSOs.
