Imphal, October 16 2014:
The proposed 24 hour bandh on National Highway 150 (Tiddim Road) and National Highway 39 (New Cachhar Road) announced by the CAF& PD Labours Welfare Association has been relaxed for some time in view of the ongoing conciliation proceedings being taken up between the Association and the Contractor M/S RK Fortune Developer Pvt Ltd, Changangei and the Labour Department, according to a press release of the Association.
At a meeting, the Association, the contractor and the representative from labour department reached an agreement on reinstating all the 61 labourers of Consumer Affairs Food & Public Distribution (CAF & PD) and increase of the current wage rate of the labourers, sources said.
But the meeting could not decide on the issue of recruitment of additional labourers for CAF & PD, they said.
Protesting against the Manipur Government for not giving positive response to its demands, the labourer body had on October 14 announced for a 24-hour blockade along the two highways, which was to start midnight of October 16 .
