Fate of 5 candidates to be sealed today

Polling personnel and security personnel deployed for the Hiyanglam AC by-poll slated for Oct 17 have left Thoubal district headquarters today for
their respective stations.
The fate of five candidates would be sealed tomorrow.
The five candidates in the fray are Elangbam Dwijamani (INC), Maibam Dhanabir (BJP), Elangbam Amutombi (MPP), Dr Yumnam Radheshyam (AITC) and Thokchom Laiba Singh (MSCP) .
Voting will begin from 7 am and end at 4 pm tomorrow.
Necessary security arrangements have been put in place to ensure smooth conduct of the by-poll.
Returning Officer of the by-poll, Th Chittaranjan has today appealed all voters of the AC to exercise their franchise.

Briefing media persons at his office today, Chittaranjan said that ten State police personnel including five women police each along with a section of Central Paramilitary personnel are deployed at each station.
He urged the voters to cast their votes freely, without any influence.
The Hiyanglam Assembly seat fell vacant after its sitting MLA Maibam Kunjo passed away.
Meanwhile, the State Govt has issued an order that all Govt offices, educational institutions, private sector undertakings and any other establishment located within 38-Hiyanglam AC would remain closed on Oct 17 in order to enable the employees to exercise their right in the by-election to the constituency.
The order also ordered the closure of banks/financial institutions located within the Assembly segment on the day.
It further ordered that employees who are voters of Hiyanglam AC but working elsewhere be allowed to avail special casual leave on Oct 17 .
