Assam Rifles initiates sports meet, organises inter-school football, serves mid day meal

As part of its endeavour to serve the people through various sportive events, the 20 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under HQ IGAR(South) participated in the 16th Annual Games and Sports Meet held at St Peter's High School, Monsangpantha, Chandel on October 16.Inaugurated by Commandant 20 Assam Rifles as the chief guest, he said that sports is a great medium to strengthen the bond among all in addition to the basic advantages like physical fitness etc.
Around 250 students participated in the sports meet, where Cultural dance and song was also presented by the students.
In a similar enterprise, the 42nd Glory Day-Cum-Sports and Literary Meet 2014 was held at Siranrukhong Model School from October 14 to 16.In the opening ceremony, Company Commander of 41st Assam Rifles who attended as the Chief Guest expressed that the battalion would like to extent support by supplying sports items for the school.
Further, he encouraged the students of Siranrukhong Model School to be excellent students.
Shri K Chihanngam Vashum guest of honour illustrated the theme 'Good Participation and not Winning'.
He said, as a human being, we must participate and compete in the tournament or in the competition and we must have a firm determination to win.
We have to compete with the spirit of sports.
Meanwhile, the 40 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) is organising 3rd ARSOM Inter School Football Tournament from 16 to 19 Oct 2014 at Keithelmanbi.
The opening ceremony held today was graced by Brigadier V T Mathew, Commander 9 Sector Assam Rifles.
A total of eight teams from different schools across IGAR (South) are participating in this football carnival.
In another endeavour, the 40 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR served mid-day meal to around 120 students of Keirao Public School on 16 Oct 2014 on the occasion of World Food Day.
During the occasion, Canchipur Post Commander mentioned that such efforts will go a long way in building a friendly relationship between the Security Forces and local populace and ushering an era of lasting peace.
