Covid continues to surge with 852 more positive, 10 deaths

The virus continues to surge and claim lives with Manipur reporting 852 more positive cases and 10 deaths in the last 24 hours.
With the addition of 852 new cases, the total tally of positive cases in the State now stands at 76,032 and with the addition of 10 more deaths the total number of deaths due to the virus has gone up to 1251 .
The 852 new cases were detected out of 5,400 samples tested taking the daily positivity rate to 15.8 percent, which is a drop from the 19.1 rate reported on July 8.Quoting the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee, the COVID-19 Common Control Room said that the 10 deceased persons belonged to Imphal West (2), Imphal East (3), Thoubal (1), Kakching (2), Kangpokpi (1) and Churachandpur (1) .
They passed away at RIMS (3), JNIMS (4), Shija Hospital (1), Churachandpur District Hospital (1) and home isolation (1) .
Of the 852 persons tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, 4 were Central security personnel, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The 848 civilians which included 445 women are from Imphal East (150), Imphal West (276), Thoubal (85), Bishnupur (66), Kakching (97), Ukhrul (2), Churachandpur (95), Chandel (14), Senapati (19), Tamenglong (5), Tengnoupal (4), Jiribam (5), Kam-jong (1) and Kangpokpi (29) .
The positive persons were detected at RIMS (10), JNIMS (49), District Hospitals (608) and other testing centres (185) .
Contact tracing and containment measures have been taken up, claimed the statement.
On the other hand, 490 persons were discharged during the last 24 hours, out which 199 were from home isolation, RIMS (18), JNIMS (11), CCCs (100) and CHICs (162) .
The COVID-19 Common Control again claimed today, that 'Due to various reasons, 469 persons are reported as discharged cases only today'.
The total number of recovered cases as of today is considered as 959 after reconciliation with reports from IDSP team, home isolation team, community home isolation and hospitalisation team, added the statement.
The recovery rate therefore stands at 89.66 percent.
On July 8, a total of 24,675 persons were vaccinated taking the total number of vaccinated people to 8,51,377 .
This is inclusive of 92,182 people who have received their second dose, added the statement.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 2265 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 419 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State.
