State logs 852 new positive cases, 10 fatalities
SOB, fever, general weakness, cough most common symptoms among Covid victims

Imphal, July 09 2021: Positivity rate still remains high as the state reported 852 new positive cases out of 5400 samples tested and recorded 15.78 per cent positivity rate against Thursday's 19.11 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, the State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 10 Covid-19 deaths against 12 on Thursday.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (2), Imphal East (3), Thoubal (1), Kakching (2), Kangpokpi (1) and Churachandpur (1) .

Four patients died at JNIMS, three at RIMS, and one each at Shija Hospitals, DH Churachandpur and Home Isolation.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1251 .

Three of the victims were below 60 years of age.

One patient died within one hour of arriving at hospital and another within 9 hours.

Seven of the 10 victims did not have any co-morbid conditions.

One victim had received first dose of Covishield and seven were unvaccinated while vaccination status of two victims is not known.

Shortness of breath (SOB) is reported in all victims, fever & general weakness in six, cough in four, loss of appetite in two, loose motion and pain in epigastrium in one victim each at the time of admission.

The active caseload has reduced to 6610 out of which 2542 are in home isolation and 2104 in CHICs.

As of Thursday night, 860 patients were admitted to different hospitals and 332 of them are on oxygen support and 50 on ventilator support.

Out of the 860 admitted patients, 111 are in ICU/HDU and 432 beds were vacant as on Thursday night.

A total of 1104 patients are admitted to different CCCs with 97 of them on oxygen support.

There are 1802 beds available in the CCCs and the total available beds as of Thursday night was 2234 .

According to official reports, the 852 new cases included 848 people (403 males & 445 females) from among the general population and four personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .

Their samples were tested at RIMS (10), JNIMS (49), District Hospitals (608) and other testing centres (185) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (150), Imphal West (276), Thoubal (85), Bishnupur (66), Kakching (97), Ukhrul (2), Churachandpur (95), Chandel (14), Senapati (19), Tamenglong (5), Tengnoupal (4), Jiribam (5), Kamjong (1) and Kangpokpi (29) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, 490 patients were discharged from home isolation (199), RIMS (18), JNIMS (11), CCCs (100) and CHICs (162) .

Due to various reasons, 469 already discharged cases are reported only on Friday and the total number of recovered cases is calculated as 959 after reconciliation with reports from different teams.

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 76,032 (general population - 72,129 and CApF personnel - 3,903) .

Number of recovered cases is 68,171 (general population - 64,378 and CAPF personnel - 3,793) and number of active cases is 6,610 (general population - 6,505 and CAPF personnel - 105).The recovery rate is 89.66 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 2265 D-type and 419 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

District hospitals and government institutions have 442D and 108B filled cylinders while stock distributions made in the last 24 hours included Bishnupur (117D,12B), Chandel (33D,5B), Churachandpur (38D,0B), Senapati (40D,0B), Thoubal (70D,30B), Ukhrul (25D,18B), Tamenglong (18D,0B), Jiribam (48D,13B), Kamjong (3D,2B), Kangpokpi (3D,0B), Kakching (21D,19B), Pherzawl (6D,2B), Moreh (20D,4B) and CCCs (355D,129B) .

A total of 24,675 doses of vaccines were administered on Thursday and the cumulative number of vaccinated people has reached 7,59,195 out of which 92,182 have received their second shot.

Meanwhile, 71 new positive cases were detected out of 608 samples tested in Kakching District from Thursday 2 pm to Friday 2 pm.

Seven of the cases were detected at Ema Hospital, 11 at Jivan Hospital and 53 at government RAT sites.

Three patients are from Thoubal, two each from Chandel & Tengnoupal districts, and one from Bishnupur district while the remaining are residents of Kakching district.

As of Friday afternoon, 2 pm, the cumulative cases of the district have reached 4122 out of which 3419 have been discharged and 82 have died.

There are 621 active cases at present.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (26,514), Imphal East (16,721), Thoubal (6393), Churachandpur (6190), Kangpokpi (1928), Tamenglong (2191), Bishnupur (4991), Senapati (1462), Ukhrul (1528), Kakching (4011), Chandel (1281), Noney (600), Tengnoupal (829), Jiribam (788), Kamjong (455) and Pherzawl (150) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (437), Imphal East (323), Thoubal (119), Churachandpur (103), Kangpokpi (34), Tamenglong (11), Bishnupur (96), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (16), Kakching (72), Chandel (18), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (6), Jiribam (4), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 24,501 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,079 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,04,124 tests per million population against the national average of 3,06,371 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.65 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 5400 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 15.78 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 8.06 per cent.
