Imphal, July 09 2021:
The All Club Organisation Association & Meira Paibi Lup (ACOAM-Lup) has claimed that certain pharmacists and stockists in the State are openly selling kits for Standard Q COVID-19 Ag Test, which are not approved for personal use by ICMR, in black market.
In a press release, ACOAM-Lup said that they came across certain pharmacists and stockists selling these kits on Thursday, which are approved only for professional use by ICMR.
Saying that chances of false results coming out in self testing is high as the majority of the masses might not be aware of the proper use of these Rapid Antigen Test kits, the lup added that false-negative COVID-19 test results pose imminent threat to public health.
This testing mode not only has the tendency to raise false alarms but also contribute to the virus spread as where and how these kits are disposed after use are not known, the lup added.
Continuing that the Central team which recently visited the State to assess the Covid situation here had instructed the State Government to take stern actions against whoever found selling illegal kits, ACOAM-Lup asked whether diagnostic whole salers selling these illegal kits are not liable for punishment under Disaster Management Act 2005.It also said that selling of these illegal testing kits can also be one big factor for the rapid spread of Covid in the State.
