Imphal, May 31 2015 :
Following the disqualification of three MLAs of Thangmeiband A/C, Thongju A/C and Wangoi A/C by the Speaker's Tribunal Court of Manipur Legislative Assembly on May 27 there has been a scene of political instability in the State giving birth to protests against the Speaker in all the three constituencies.
Congress man Jotin Waikhom in a press meet held at Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai today addressed the reactions shown by the MLAs and their supporters, particularly the burning of effigy of the Speaker by protestors of Thangmeiband A/C, as the most shameful act.
The decision of the Tribunal Court was made after considering all the circumstantial evidence placed against the former MLAs.
All the evidence proved that the sitting MLA of Thangmeiband A/C was guilty as charged, Jotin stated.
Stating that the former MLAs could have challenged the decision of the Tribunal Court through proper channel had any of the said politicians felt himself a victim, Jotin added that burning effigies of the Speaker and the Chief Minister was totally uncalled for.
While adding that the Speaker had reserved the final judgement for about a year after a case was lodged in June last year Jotin claimed that there was no room for any biasness in the decision.
When asked if he would contest the poll if there is a mid-term poll, Jotin said that he and his workers have started preparation to face any challenges thrown at him and his party.
Besides the press meet, a public meeting was also organized by the Thangmeiband Block Congress Committee to discuss the present political instability in the constituency.
