Livingstone's effigy burnt, road blocked by film artists

Imphal, December 20 2012:
Demanding immediate arrest and punishment of Livingstone, a cadre of NSCN-IM, who molested and assaulted film actress Momoko during a musical concert at Chandel on December 18, the effigy of the culprit was burnt down along with blocking the road at Thangmeiband today.
A meeting was conducted at the office of Film Forum Manipur today which was attended by film personalities, singers, Shumang Leela artists and theatre personalities.
Soon after the meeting, the members present at the meeting along with the general public organized a protest rally and proceeded towards the complex of Manipur Legislative Assembly with placards and festoons which read "Punish the culprit", "Erase NSCN-IM from the surface of Earth", "We condemned brutal act of Livingstone", etc.
However, they were stopped by security personnel near Thangmeiband Leelasing Khongnangkhong and it led to a confrontation, specially after a police officer allegedly foul-mouthed at the rallyists.

The tension was, however, cooled down after Momoko told the police personnel of how she was misbehaved by the NSCN-IM cadre in full public view.
Later, the rallyists brought out the effigy of Livingstone and burnt it down at Thangmeiband.
Later on, the police personnel allowed Momoko and L Surjakanta to meet Chief Minister O Ibobi and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam at the lobby of Assembly hall where they pressed the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister to take up legal actions against the accused NSCN-IM cadre.
MLA Joykishan also arrived at the spot where the rallyists were blocking the road at Thangmeiband, assured them that he would press the DGP to take up legal actions against the culprit.
Leaders of Film Forum Manipur while talking to media persons informed that a sit-in-protest would be staged at Keishampat Community hall tomorrow.
All sorts of music concerts and events related with films would be stopped completely until and unless Livingstone is arrested by the police and given befitting punishment.
Torch rally will also be organized during the night at different parts of the state along with calling of bandhs and blockades as the need arise.
AMUCO, UCM, HERICOUN, AMSU, United Pangal Cultural centre, WAD, Henjunaha Youth Organisation, WASAK, Kabui Mothers Association, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Lup, AMKIL, CHITUWA, WASAK, Chingtam United Union, Kangleipak Women Welfare Association, Kanglei Ima Lup, All Manipur Women Social Reformation and Development Samaj, Rongmei Women's Organisation, Kabui Mothers Association, KANGLEICHAL, MEEKHOL, CLK and other women organizations of the State have condemned the brutal and unforgiving act of the NSCN-IM cadre.
