Students exhorted to appreciate own culture

As a part of the extra curriculum activities of the school, a Cultural Meet was held to inculcate the values of one's own cultures in the mind of young students at V.M.High School, H.Wajang village in Chandel District today.
The programme was graced by T.Doukholun Haokip, Chairman of School Managing Board and Tm.
Holkhokhai Haokip, Secretary of School Managing Board as chief guest and functional president respectively.
A large number of parents were also present on the occasion during which cultural dances of Thadou-Kuki, Chothe, Lamkang & Meitei were performed by students.
Folksongs and cultural related activities were others highlighted of the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Tm.
Holkhokhai Haokip stressed on the importance of one's own cultures in this modern world, and pointed out that now- a-day, younger generation ignored the important of their cultures & traditions and were drifted away from them by adopting western cultures.
But if a person does not know his own cultures he lost his identity and origin.
As our country is a land of unity in diversity where every community can preserve our own culture, therefore, students should not learn only education but also preserve their own cultures and traditions, he exhorted.
