Imphal, October 06 2014:
Even though Imphal is regarded as a city, unwarranted dumping of waste materials, urination and release of animal excretes have made the city a vulnerable place filled with dirt and unhealthy conducts, former Commissioner of Art & Culture, Dr RK Nimai has observed.
He was speaking as the Chief Guest of the World Architecture Day observance organized by Manipur Architecture Forum at Lamyanba Shanglen here today.
Dr Nimai said that many roads and bridges might have been constructed by engaging engineers, but all of them are devoid of appealing design.
He pointed out that the Sewerage Project in the city has not been completed yet even after a long time.
Forget about bringing in fast track development, most of the important roads and bridges are in deplorable condition.
People have not been able to receive adequate power supply and poor internal connectivity has added more woes to the people.
The ambitious Zero Garbage Campaign has also apparently failed to implement effectively, he added.
