Imphal, October 06 2014:
Referring to BJP State unit president Th Chaoba's promise to transform Hiyanglam into a model Assembly segment, if the people of Hiyanglam A/C elect the BJP candidate, Chief Minister O Ibobi today asked if Chaoba can bring the amount needed for the transformation.
Addressing an election meeting held at Langmeidong play ground today, Ibobi derided Chaoba's promise of model A/C as nothing more than lip service.
BJP is one party which unfolds umbrella in Manipur when there is rainfall in Delhi, he said.
The BJP president's rigmarole is simply unsavoury because he was playing sycophancy to Congress party for a long time thereby extracting maximum benefits for his self interest.
Ibobi further questioned if Chaoba did not understand that people had hearty laughs soon after his speeches are over.
Asking if there is any remote possibility of the BJP Government at the Centre to allot funds for each and every district by-passing the State Government, Ibobi said that the proposed sports university in Manipur is not to be brought by the State Government or the BJP president.
"Moreover, the National sports academy set up in the State during the UPA regime was not brought by Chaoba or myself.
Both the National sports academy and the proposed sports university were won by the excellence and outstanding performance of Manipuri players", Ibobi stated.
It was during the NDA Government when the then Union Home Minister LK Advani prefixed 'without territorial limits' in a ceasefire agreement which literally put Manipur on fire and eventually led to loss of many precious lives.
The BJP State unit president should be always on guard, Ibobi advised.
Even though BJP is in power at the Centre, the Union Government has no authority to hold back any fund meant for Manipur.
The State's approved plan outlay for this year is no lesser than the plan outlay of the previous year, and this was not begging.
The State took what was entitled to it.
Saying that Congress candidate Elangbam Dwijamani's defeat in the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly election was disappointing, Ibobi appealed to the electorate of Hiyanglam A/C to elect Dwijamani this time.
MPCC president Gaikhangam, many Congress Ministers and MLAs too spoke at the meeting.
