Imphal, October 06 2014:
Announcing the birth of socio-political action group christened as 'Clean Politics Mission', former BJP spokesman Chongtham Bijoy urged the President BJP Manipur Pradesh, Th.Chaoba to resign from the party leadership as well as from politics within 7 days.
In a press meet, Convenor of Clean Politics Mission Chongtham Bijoy said that the objective of the newly set Mission is to eradicate corrupt and unfair practices from public life.
Bijoy added that Journalist Yambem Laba is the Co-convenor of the Clean Politics Mission and others members would also be announced subsequently.
Pronouncing the strategies of the new Mission, Bijoy stated that a massive changed would be brought about in the 2017 assembly elections.
The mission will begin its operation in urban assembly constituencies and later in rural constituencies, he said while adding that the hill areas would be widely focused by the mission.
RTI and PIL will be used as a means to undergo the cleaning process, he said.
Pledging to strengthen people's role in democracy, the convenor declared that members of the Clean Politics Mission will not contest elections.
Elaborating on its attacks on the BJP, the Mission Convenor Chongtham Joy alleged that Thounaojam Chaoba's claim of clean public life during his 50 years of politics is totally wrong.
He cited that Chaoba was in jail for three days in a bribery case in 1973 .
Bijoy rebuked that Chaoba has not filed any defamation case against any newspaper despite the expiry of 7 days time he had set through the media on September 21 last.
'Even though the newspapers have not apologized for allegations against him, Chaoba has remained silent', said Bijoy while urging him to file the defamation case demanding Rs.50 crore as he warned.
The intention of canvassing for removal of Dr.Arunkumar from the RIMS director's post is just to reduce pressures from Dr.Sekhorjit for refund of the bribed money, Bijoy stated.
Saying that BJP Manipur Pradesh General secretary (Orgn) Premananda Sharma and General secretary (Admn.) Ashinikumar are the best cohorts of Chaoba, convenor Bijoy recalled that Ashinikumar was on one occasion arrested by police in a criminal case.
Alleging that Th.Chaoba has resorted to hefty business by posing for photographs along with central ministers, the former BJP spokesperson added that following the CBI raid at RIMS, Ashimikumar applied to the government for provision of security on September 24 last.
The people of Manipur and BJP members would like to know the reasons, he said.
