Riverlane beat Wild Hogs 5-4 to seal 2nd Phantu Cup title

Riverlane Football Club (RFC) sealed the title of 2nd Phantu Cup 2014 (a district-level men's football tournament), defeating Wild Hogs Football Club 5-4 goals via penalty shoot-out in front of about 3000 spectators at Maha Union Govt.Higher Secondary school, Japhou ground today.
Hosted by Lambung Youth & Cultural Club, 34 teams took part in the competition that began from September 16 with a cash prize of Rs 20000 along with certificates and a running trophy.
Both teams fought on equal pace.
They equally missed out threatening opportunity and chances.
As the match locked up in goalless draw during the regulated time, the match was decided by a tie breaker during wich Riverlane Football club defeated by 5-4 .
HB Hringkhungam, Hl Momin, Kl Angningwar, Hb.
Ningamhring and HB Burley of Riverlane converted the shots whereas Luckson of Wild Hogs missed the goal when all his team mates Kagaly, Ahel, Shelminthang and Leopa successfully kicked through the net.
Riverlane walked home with a cash prize of Rs 20000, certificates and a running trophy.
While Wild hogs got a cash prize of Rs 10000, certificates and a take away home trophy.
The final playoff was preceded by a closing function during which President of Chandel Naga People's Organization Ws Kanral Anal attended the function as Chief Guest.
Other dignitaries on dais included CO of 20 Assam Rifles Col Anil M Varghese, 2nd in Command and CMO of 20 AR Dr Gaihaipao, CO of 8th MR Leikun and Chandel SP in charge L Ibotombi Singh and CNPO Officials.
During the prize distribution ceremony Ws Kanral Anal gave away the championship prize while the CO of 20 AR Col Anil M Varghese gave away prizes the runner up prizes.
Kagaly of Wild Hogs for being the first scorer of the final match sponsored by L Ibotombi Singh.

Semifinalists Angkhelchayang and LYCC-A were also honoured.
After the prize distribution CNPO President Ws Kanral lowered the flag followed by a closing prayer offered by Riverlane Pastor Hl Kantha to mark the tournament closed.
