Imphal, June 06 2021:
A team of Kamjong District Co-ordination Committee (KDCC) led by its advisor Ashang Kasar visited Kasom Khullen, Phungyar, Kamjong and Sahamphang Block HQs and met village authority members, youth organisation, women organisation leaders and Block Level Covid-19 Committee members to discuss the pandemic situation and infrastructural development issue in the area.
Informing this in a release, KDCC general secretary Ngatangmi Hungyo said that the team conducted a tour from June 2 to 4 in the said places and convened meetings to discuss various issues.
During the meetings, village authority leaders and other leaders expressed disappointment over the activities of the government and the elected representatives in the ongoing fight against Covid-19 pandemic.
The villagers have been facing numerous problems as the imposition of curfew has halted all their economic activities.
Moreover, they did not get adequate essential commodities under NFSA and PMKAY, Hungyo pointed out.
Even though there is no massive spread of Covid-19 pandemic in the said areas, it seems no preventive measure has been taken up in the area, Hungyo contended, while adding that lack of specialist doctor at Block HQ healthcare centres has caused inconveniences when people get ill.
There is no paediatrician, gynaecologist and medicine doctor in Kamjong district, he lamented.
Informing that a building for setting up a bank at Kasom Khullen Block HQ was inaugurated way back in 2015, Hungyo said that the bank authority failed to open the bank and the building has been deteriorating.
Thus, the villagers are facing huge problem in visiting Imphal and Ukhrul due to lack of bank.
He further stressed that utilising only one ambulance for the whole district amidst Covid-19 pandemic is gross injustice.
While highlighting the deteriorating road conditions in the district, Hungyo contended that the road construction was done only for namesake that too when minister visited the place.
Moreover, infrastructural development is completely missing in Sahamphung block, he added.
Drawing the attention of the government, Hungyo urged to look into the matter in the interest of the people.
