ECC observes Irabot anniv

Imphal, September 30 2015:
The 119th birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot was widely observed on Wednesday in different parts of the world including America, Bangkok, Bangladesh and other Northeastern States of India.
Social service camps, paying floral tributes to the late leader, discussion on Irabot's life, march past competition, patriotic poems and song competitions were the main events during the month long observation.
The main observation of the day was organised by the Irabot Celebration Committee at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Sanglen of Palace Compound.
Many important persons including CPI Manipur State Council secretary Dr M Nara, comrade M Ibohal, Irabot Celebration Committee chairman and CPI Manipur State Council secretariat member comrade L Iboyaima, Irabot Celebration Committee Secretary comrade L Sotinkumar.
Students from various educational institutions, Keithel Nupi Marup, street vendours women, AISF, cultural troupes and band contingents participated in the March Past competition.
Prominent persons including Dr M Nara, N Mangi and M Ibohal praised and spoke on the life history of Irabot.
Five distinctive persons were honoured with awards by the Irabot Celebration Committee.
Former minister RV Mingthing was honoured with Hijam Irabot Award 2015; Prof Rose Mangsi Haokip with Unity Award 2015; Eechel Express Editor Irengbam Arunkumar with Thiyam Meghachandra Journalist Award 2015; Chingtham Kullachandra with Hijam Achou Sinmee Award 2015 and Oinam Munal with the Thokchom Achouba Award 2015.The awards carry citations and cash.
