3 days training programme starts

Manipur Small Farmers' Agri Business Consortium in association with Mission Organic Value Chain Development (Agri) kick started a three day training programme on "Enhancing agri marketing through branding of black rice of Manipur" at the conference hall of Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak today.
The programme was organised with support from National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (NIAM) Jaipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Project Coordinator, Manipur Small Farmers' Agri-Business Consortium M S Khaidem stated that the Department of Agriculture, under the Central sponsored scheme of MOVCD-NER, initiated black rice farming since 2017-18.Experts have come to disseminate information, tips and know-how of processing, packaging and producing black rice as an organic commodity through the training programme, he maintained.
He further stated that the programme will also enable farmers, producers and processing units to earn profits by exporting the organic black rice.
MS Khaidem continued that Farmers Producer Company has been set up each at the four valley district in the State under Mission Organic Value Chain Development while adding that five to ten farmers from each of the company (around 50 farmers in total) were selected to take part in the training.
Director of Agriculture Manipur Laltanpuii Vanchhong, Principal Scientist (Seed Tech) ICAR for NER Manipur Centre Lamphel Dr I Meghachandra, Project Coordinator, Manipur Small Farmers' Agri-Business Consortium MS Khaidem and Nodal Officer MOVCD (Agri) S Radhapyari attended the programme as presidium members.
