Anti-CAB call rings out at Drivers' Day

Imphal, January 14 2019:
Noting that CSOs, student organizations and public have strongly reacted against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, Congress MLA RK Imo has urged all the political parties active in the State, including BJP to collectively fight the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 by leaving aside all political differences and in the interest of the people.
He was speaking as chief guest at the 30th Drivers' Day Celebration 2019 which was organized by the Manipur Drivers' Welfare Association at the premises of Meino Leirak Maning Chaokhat Thourang Lup, Sagolband Meino Leirak.
Imo who is also the MLA of Sagolband A/C claimed that the passage of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 is a very sensitive issue as al! sections of the society are.reacting strongly against the Bill and has put the whole North East in a chaotic situation.
It is the right time for all the political parties active in the State and North East as a whole to collectively stand against the Bill.
DESAM advisor Moirangthem Angamba also attended the function as a guest of honour.
All Manipur Transport Cooperative Societies' Association president Ngangom Haridas who also attended the function as a guest of honour appealed to all sections of the society to recognize the role played by drivers amidst many challenges and occupational hazards; and to treat them with respect.
Manipur Drivers' Welfare Association president Babudhon Shaikhuba and Meino Leirak Maning Leikai Chaokhat Thourang Lup president Singham Ghanashyam also attended the function as president and guest of honour respectively.
Apart from paying floral tributes to the photos of many expired drivers, a two minute silence was also observed during the function.
