Imphal, April 24 2021:
The Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) conducted drive at various shops in and around Thangal bazar and seized tobacco products today.
The drive started at around 3 pm .
The tobacco items seized were burnt and destroyed later at AIMS office at Kwakeithel.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government had banned certain tobacco products, however, these items are being sold in black in Manipur at exorbitant prices, said AIMS general secretary Nickerson Khumancha.
He appealed to the Government to take strict measures to ban the items and said the student organisation would continue similar drives in other places also.
