Devt of tribal films discussed in Chandel

At time when most of the modern tribal communities have no time and place to work for development of their own films due to one reason or the other, the Tribal Cultural and Film Development Manipur (TCAFDM) which has been relentlessly trying to promote tribal films, organized a two-day long workshop on development of Tribal films under the theme "social changes through music and film" .
The workshop which was held under the sponsorship of Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Imphal from September 15 at MACA hall Chandel not only discussed issues related to social reformation through film and music and the importance of film and marketing policy but also took serious note over the various problems confronting the artists, film makers and the audience.
Founder & Director of Kuknalim Music Ministry, AC Raising and Director of the Chandel based Kholmi Film Production Director Sng Pearson attended the workshop as resource persons.
Delivering the keynote address, president of TCAFDM L.Decemhring Anal said that TCAFDM was formed to create a common platform for promotion of Tribal films after having recognised film as a good media to promote one's indigenous culture and tradition.
Speaking as resource person on social reformation through film and music, AC Raising stressed on the need of making influential, quality and indigenous based films.
He also said that emergence of talented artistes with dedication, commitment, confidence and specialization is the need of the hour today.
Another resource person of the day, Sng Pearson while speaking on the importance of the film and marketing policy, pointed out lack of exposure as the main issues confronting the Tribal film makers rather than what the people thought of Tribal artistes being less talented.
Pearson said that if given the importance and what is required, film can become an additional source of income and a means of employment for livelihood to many people.
Marinda, a participant while expressing her views, said we ought to respect and honour the actors/ actresses, artistes for making their great contribution to the society.
We must stop looking down on them instead support them for a better cause.
President of Anal Lenruwl Tangpi (Anal Students' Union) L.Manahring and President of NSUC Sr.
Jonigam were among other important persons present in the workshop.
