Annual conference of MSPM held

The 9th Annual Conference of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Meghalaya (MSPM) was held at the Conference Hall of Union Christian College, Umiam today.
The first session of the conference was chaired by N Rajamani, President of MSPM, with MLA of Kakching A/C Yengkhom Surchandra Singh as Chief Guest.
Various invitees from Meghalaya, Assam, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura also attended the conference during which annual awards of MSPM were presented to important literary figures of Northeast.
Laishram (O) Khwairakpam Anandini Devi was presented the Kavya Bhushan award, Mayanglambam Kaandesh was presented the Sahitya Bhushan award, and Laishram Tarani Kanta Singh was presented the Khorjei Phongba (Journalist) award.
Khetri Bira and Dr Jodhachandra Sanasam, who are Sahitya Akademi awardees of 2011 and 2012 respectively, were given warm reception during the function.
Miss A.Sanjita Devi of St.
Edmund's College, Shillong, was also given a reception for securing the 9th position in Class XII Arts examination 2013, conducted by the Meghalaya Board of Secondary Education.
To mark the occasion, the Chief Guest released two books namely 'Phunga Wari Yendai' written by Thoudam Babatombi, and 'Ei Chatlukhige' by Ningthoujam Munish.
In the second session of the programme, a kavi sammelan was facilitated where poets from different parts of North East read out poems in different languages.
The programme ended with a cultural programme.
