Imphal, October 27 2013:
Kanglatongbi Bazar Board Meira Paibee Lup has ostracised a man and his wife for allegedly raping his 14-year-old step-daughter for three consecutive years.
The girl's mother allegedly hushed up the devilish act of her husband although the young girl complained to her mother that her ordeal started ever since she was 11 years old, said a press release.
The matter came to light after Young Women Help Organisation (YWHO) rescued the girl and handed over to ChildLine.
Later, a meeting of the Meira Paibee Lup resolved to ostracise the family from Kanglatongbi area.
The press release said that there is no place for such people in a civilised society.
It also urged the Government and civil society organisations to protect the rights of the girl and compensate adequately.
While thanking YWHO for its timely action, the Meira Paibee organisation appealed to all to stop all kinds of molestation, harassment and oppression meted out to women and girls.
