Foot operated hand washing unit donated

A team of IIT Guwahati Manipuri Students and Alumni, led by N Thoiba Singh has donated a foot operated hand washing unit to RIMS Hospital, stated a press release issued by N Phillip Singh, media advisor, RIMS.
The unit which was handed over to RIMS Medical Superintendent Prof Ch Arunkumar was installed in front of the Casualty Block of the hospital campus for public utility.
The foot operated unit was designed and developed by IIT Guwahati Manipuri Students and Alumni with the intent to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and is the third unit donated by the group.
Previously, it was successfully installed at the CM office and MU campus, it said.
The system has two paddles, with one paddle to actuate the handwash bottle kept on the platform and the other to actuate link connected to water tap.
It also has provision for tissue paper and ensures judicious use of water.
It also prevents physical touch of water tap and soap dispenser by hand.
Prof Ch Arunkumar expressed gratitude to the team for donating such a unit.
