Freed, re-arrested under NSA

In an incident starkly reminiscent of the arrest and re-arrest of senior CPI leader, L Sotinkumar in December last year, a 38 year old man identified as Lourembam Sanjoy was arrested under the National Security Act, by a team of Imphal East police right after he was released on bail by the Judicial Magistrate of Imphal East in another case.
Lourembam Sanjoy son of Shyamjai of Yairipok Yambem Mathak Leikai was produced before the Court today after completing 4 days police remand for allegedly assaulting and threatening to kill a 35 year old man with a gun on May 15 .
The allegedly assaulted man is identified as Chingakham Ingocha of Andro Khunou Nungyungbi Leikai After hearing the bail plea, the Court ordered the release of Sanjoy on a PR bond of Rs 1 lakh.
However as soon as the release of Sanjoy on bail was issued, an officer of Imphal East district police submitted another order issued by the Imphal East District Magistrate to arrest Sanjoy under NSA in connection with another case.
Thereafter L Sanjoy was formally arrested from the Court complex by a police team and taken away.
L Sanjoy is likely to be produced before the Court concerned tomorrow.
