Senapati, May 18 2020:
The Mao Student's Union (MSU) in a press statement has expressed strong condemnation against an alleged attempt to malign the image of frontline officials deployed at Mao Gate COVID-19 screening centre by one person who was accompanying the 36 persons from Mumbai.
Recalling the May 13 incident, the student's body informed that, at around 6.30 pm the person was repeatedly asked to maintain physical distancing while screening passengers.
However, violating the SOP of screening centres, he allegedly intimidated the officials executing their duties by claiming himself to be Chief Minister's people and knows DC Senapati.
He made attempts to approach the officials for unwanted reasons when the SDO intervened and shouted at him to maintain distance as the party was coming from Red Zone area.
It was then, the person obeyed and the screening process continued.
All these dramas happened in the presence of other commuters, Medical team, Mao police and Student's leaders.
Here, the MSU questions as to how and why the said person through social media justifies his indiscipline actions and attempts to deviate the whole incident by pointing fingers on the behaviour of the already exhausted officials who are manning the border with limited manpower and available resources.
Additionally, considering the presence of cancer patients, the single screening centre allowed the party on priority by passing two buses of passengers.
Therefore, Mao students urged the State Government to immediately book the person involved for attempting to disturb and malign the image of the officials and also endangering other commuters.
It also warned the mentioned returnee to apologize for the unwanted circulation and stop playing the victim card.
