Imphal, September 08 2018:
Demanding the State Government to take up necessary actions to sort out the inconsistencies present in the work concerning expansion of NH 102 stretch from Lilong to Wangjing before September 13, the United Action Committee of Affected Pattadars From Lilong to Wangjing has announced that it will impose a 48 hours bandh in Thoubal from midnight of September 14 if the Government fails to do so.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, the committee secretary Md Islam Makakcha alleged that there are many inconsistencies during the measurement works done by DC Thoubal for expansion of the road.
He further condemned the alleged reckless land classification being carried out in the area anddemanded the State Government to replace the current DC with someone who will work for the welfare of the affected people.
He also demanded immediate halt to the alleged forced land acquisition process and initiate land measurement at the earliest.
The Government must respect the demand not to acquire more than 50 feet on each side of the road.
On the other hand, Islam Makakcha demanded the authority concerned to let the people or the pattadars know how much land will be affected and make the information easily available.
He then demanded for construction of a by pass road to benefit the market and trade centres and reasoned that this will also help in controlling the traffic.
Demanding the State Government and the pattadar to come to an agreement when it comes to buying and selling of land and to follow the Land Acquisition Act properly, he warned against any attempt to sideline or twist relevant rules and regulation or to take land by force.
He further demanded the State Government to provide a positive reply regarding the demands of the committee by September 13 and warned that the committee will call a 48 hours Thoubal bandh from midnight of September 14 if the Government fails to do so .
