Cops seize huge cache of explosives

A huge cache of bomb materials supposedly brought from Myanmar via Moreh for triggering serial blasts in Imphal area have been seized by Imphal West Police Commandos.
Disclosing this to the media today at the conference hall of Imphal West District Police headquarters, SP Jayenta said that on thorough investigation of the case (FIR no.309 (10)2012) which relates to the encounter that took place between Imphal West Police Commandos and unknown UGs at Takyel Khongbal road leading to NH-37 on October 1, police were able to establish the identity of the slain UG cadre and his involvement in prejudicial activities.
The slain UG cadre was one Sapam Ranjan (18)s/o S Ratan Meitei of Sagolband Moirang Hanuba Leirak.
He was a hard core trained cadre of KYKL who joined the organisation some eight years back, the SP informed.

The police officer disclosed that on further investigation into the case it was known that Rajan was assigned to carry out subversive activities in Imphal area by laying bomb attacks on security forces in crowded market areas.
For the purpose, he had brought huge quantities of explosives and kept concealed at Sagolband area.
The explosives were recovered by the Police from Sagolband Khamnam Leirak area yesterday evening.
The recovered materials included 12 RDX slabs weighing about 500 grams each, 3 Remote Control Key devices, 15 Electric Detonator wires, 12 Electric circuit boards and eight dry cell batteries.
The SP conveyed that from examination of the recovered items, it was revealed that the KYKL cadres were planning to carry out serial blasts in Imphal area.
However, with the timely detection on the part of the District Police, occurrence of serial blasts, which could have claimed the lives of many, have been averted.
