Francis calls for shedding blockade mentality

RD and PR Minister Francis Ngajokpa has called upon the people to shed the mentality of imposing blockade along National Highways on pretty demands.
The minister was speaking at a reception ceremony held in his honour at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Maram Centre today.
The programme was organised by Maram Union, Maram Centre; village chiefs, public leaders and students of the area.
Francis said that it is the bounden duty of the people residing near the highway to protect the lifeline of multi-ethnic State, Manipur.
Pointing out that protecting the highways from many disturbances would surely facilitate development and peaceful co-existence among the people of the State, Francis further urged villagers and chiefs of the Maram community to take the initiative in giving protection to Maram-Kangpokpi stretch of NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur road) .
The Minister appealed the people dominating the highway stretch to render samaritan works to weary travellers instead of finding reasons for resorting to cause unwanted incidents along the stretch.
Meanwhile, the minister also mentioned that construction of inter-village roads around Maram Khunjao has been undergoing at the cost of Rs 1.5 crore under SPA.
Apart from this, process for improvement of inter-district link roads has been initiated, the Minister added while seeking cooperation from the people towards the fulfilment of bringing a 'change' in Manipur.
President of Maram Union, K Raisong; former MU President, RK Peter; Rev Fr Joseph Kindo and various public leaders of the area were present on the occasion.
Presentation of cultural items by Auxilium-Girls and troupes of Maram Centre Students and Youth Organisation were also another highlight of the programme.
