Kut fest to be webcast live

Kut festival, the grandest festival of Kuki-Chin-Mizo communities, will be telecast live and web-cast so that people around the world can watch the event live.
The Manipur state level Kut committee secretary and Additional Director General of Police P.Doungel during an exclusive with The Sangai Express said that preparation for the Kut festival is going on in full swing.
This year's theme for Kut festival which falls on November 1 is 'Unity through culture' and Mizoram Governor Vakkom B Purushothaman will grace the celebration as the chief guest.
As against 20 tribes which celebrated Kut festival together last year, Tarao tribe will join Kut celebration this year taking the total number of tribes to 21.Mate tribe will join the Kut celebrating family next year, P.Doungel said.
Informing that all the 21 tribes will present their traditional dance and music items, Doungel said that the Miss Kut contest, the main attraction of the festival, is being participated by 14 Meitei girls, six Kuki girls and one Naga girl.
Spokesperson and media in-charge of the festival Chunglenmang Kipgen said that 50 reporters have been nominated for covering the Kut festival in consultation with All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU).
For easy identification of the reporters, they will wear separate jackets.
The Kut festival will be given live coverage by Northeast TV and the event will be webcast live atwww.statelevelkut.com.
For convenience of the audience, mobile toilets, drinking water, medical, ambulance and canteen facilities will be made available at the festival venue.
Fire brigade will also be kept on standby for emergency situations, Kipgen added.
