Imphal, July 19 2021:
Covid-19 Joint Task Force Pourabi has urged the authority concerned to assess the living conditions of Covid-19 positive people before giving permission for undergoing home isolation.
Speaking in this regard, Task Force Publicity secretary W Janmenjoy informed that the Task Force has been playing a key role in taking up Covid relief work in Pour-abi village after the second wave of the pandemic struck Khundrakpam AC.
Most of the residents of Pourabi are low income families and many of the households lack basic amenities including proper kitchen, separate washroom, etc.
As such, it would be a misstep on the part of the authority concerned to allow Covid-19 positive people to undergo home isolation.
The secretary continued that government officials do not seem to take the living conditions of the people into account and thus, urged for not pushing the people to undergo home isolation or giving permissions for the same without any assessment.
Appreciating all those who have extended help to their fellow humans during the pandemic, Jamenjoy in-formed that so far 15 people have tested positive in Pourabi Awang Laikei, which include 3 members from a family of 9, all of whom are yet to get vaccinated.
There is possibility of the number spiking and as such, home isolation should not be encouraged, he added.
The secretary further informed that the Task Force had urged the authority concerned to conduct a vaccination programme in Pourabi village on July 20 and as such, appealed to the people to get the vaccine.
He also appealed to the authority concerned for conducting a mass testing programme in the area.
