Imphal, March 16 2015:
Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) Monday claimed that the State Government has been signing suspension of operation with Myanmar originated Kuki underground groups thereby encouraging Kuki foreigners to migrate into Manipur regularly.
"Frequent mass migration of Kukis from neighbouring Myanmar to Manipur is taking place.
The State Government is allowing this phenomenon," IPAK chairman Sapamcha Jadumani alleged during a press meet at the association office, Keishampat here.
He said Myanmar Government has to deal with armed groups based in the nieghbouring country itself and here the Manipur Government is signing truce with such outfits, an unwarranted policy which has posed a serious threat to the people of the State.
Jadumani tried to reveal that at least four people from outside Manipur, now staying at Little Flower School, Sangaiprou, have been found registering themselves with the State official electoral roll last year.
He pointed out that a lot of people from Manipur are now staying in metros of the country but they are never allowed to register their names in the voter lists.
"But this is happening here" .
Jadumani demanded immediate halt to further enrolling of people from outside the State in the voter list.
He was of the opinion that implementation of certain laws to regulate migrants in the State would not bear fruit if the people are not conscious about the continued secret and illegal registration of voters.
