Volunteers of the All Manipur Anti Drugs Association (AMADA) caught two youths for stealing vehicles who are also SP tablets users.
They were identified as Wahengbam Oken (26) son of W Tomba and Wahengbam Diamond (19) son of W Loken from Singjamei Chinga Makha Leikai.
They were caught when a student who went tuition at the Metro Coaching Centre, Singjamei Chinga Makha, reported to AMADA about a missing Honda Activa bearing registration number MN01-Q-8879 on December 28 last, according to Secretary AMADA Drive Committee.
"As soon as the student reported about the incident, AMADA initiate a special drive to recover the stolen vehicle," said Meghachandra.
W Oken who stole the Activa was caught from his home in the morning of December 29 while his accomplish W Diamond was picked up from his home in the evening of the same day.
Both confessed they use SP tablets and stole the Activa.
They further disclosed that apart from this they also stole two more Activa from Keishamthong Kabui Khul on December 10 and Thangmeiband Muji Khul on December 23.W Oken alone had also stolen one pulsar and an Activa from Keishamthong Maning Kabui Khul and Singjamei Chinga Makhong some four months back.
The also disclosed two persons namely Md Apikpa (28) and Md Mujibur Rehman (33) from Lilong Kaleikhong masterminded them in carrying out the activities.
They gave them Rs 2000 per stolen vehicle.
But they still haven't got any amount for three vehicles, the duo added.
According to them, besides selling SP tablets Md Majibur Rehman has a gun too.
Based on the disclosures made by the duo, AMADA observed an armed group is operating around Lilong with the activities of stealing vehicle and appealed the people to cooperate with association to uproot such gangs.
"We will hand over the two to the police for further investigation," said Meghachandra.
