A TOTAL of 25 personnel, 22 Manipur Rifles including two havildars and three police personnel including the SI of the Imphal east district police, in-charge of the security at JN Hospital security wards have been placed under suspension as the preliminary investigation revealed security lapses behind the escaped of the MAFYF president Sapamcha Kangleipal on the night of Sunday and Monday.
Before the suspension orders of the 25 personnel were issued this late evening on the recommendation of the investigation team led by Imphal east SP, Th Radheshyam, all the security guard manned by the 22 personnel from the 6th MR and three personnel from the Imphal east district police, they were replaced by another team of personnel extracted from the same units, official source said.
The investigation was conducted under the FIR case 448/12/08 under section 224 of IPC of the Porompat police station, the source added.
According to the source, 16 personnel of the 6th MR and three police personnel including an SI have reinstated them in the security ward of the JN Hospital today.
Following the escaped of the Kangleipal, a team police team led by Imphal east SP Radheshyam conducted investigation into the fact and circumstance leading to the escape of the human rights defender meeting NSA term.
Source said that during the investigation process, it was revealed various lapses in the security vigilant in the ward.
It also indicated that Kangelipak may have been escaped from the ward in between 10.30 pm of Sunday night and 5 am of next
day morning.
The security ward of the JN Hospital is protected by a strong team of 25 personnel, 22 from the 6th MR including two of the rank havildars and three from the Imphal east district police including an SI and two head constable as many jail inmates are lodging there for medical treatments.
The suspension order of the three police personnel including the security in-charge, M Nongyai was issued by the SP, Imphal east who is also leading the investigation team and that of 22 personnel including two havildars was issued by the Co, 6th MR Kh Suresh late this evening, the source said.
