Brick field owner killed by three brothers

In a spine chilling incident, a brick field owner was mercilessly killed by three brothers who stabbed with knives and struck him with bricks and wooden logs at Phaobakchao Awang Leikai under Moirang Police Station.
The incident took place at around 9:30 pm yesterday in a brick field at Phaobakchao Awang Leikai.
The deceased has been identified as Ningthoujam Nabakumar (43), s/o N Mangoljao of Tronglaobi Awang Leikai but staying at Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai.
Nabakumar was the owner of the brick field.
The three brothers who allegedly involved in killing of Nabakumar have been identified as Nongthombam Iboyaima (37), his elder brother N Mangol (40) and their younger brother N Manao (32), sons of N Gaorahari of Phaobakchao Ethai Awang Leikai.
Relating the incident to Hueiyen Lanpao, family members of the deceased informed that Nabakumar had a dinner party along with some of his workers and one of his friends who is police personnel from Bishnupur yesterday.
After the dinner party and the policeman left, Nabakumar and some of workers arranged themselves to spend the night at the brick field.
At around 9:30 pm, the three accused brothers came to the brick field and called out Nabakumar.
Nabakumar then came out with a knife and they started fighting.
In the process the three brothers snatched the knife and stabbed him.
They also attacked him with bricks and wooden logs.
Later the workers of the brick field informed the policeman who had dinner with them, and took Nabakumar to RIMS.
But Nabakumar succumbed to injuries.
Meanwhile, locals staged a sit-in-protest at Tronglaobi today demanding arrest of the culprits within 24 hours for giving befitting punishment in accordance to the laws of the land.
The protestors also warned of taking up intense agitations including blockade along Tidim Road if the demand were not met.
With family members refusing to take the body, it has been kept at the mortuary of RIMS after post-mortem examination.
